Oracle cuts roughly 30,000 to fund AI data center buildout

Oracle notified roughly 30,000 employees of immediate termination on March 31, with layoff notices arriving around 6am local time via 'Oracle Leadership' email across the US, India, Canada, and Mexico. The company plans to free up $8-10 billion in annual cash flow for infrastructure deals including OpenAI partnerships and other AI data center investments.
