Korea's May Day Rally and Samsung Biologics' Inaugural Strike

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a '2026 Global May Day Assembly' on May 1 in central Seoul, demanding direct negotiations with primary contractors and fundamental labor rights. On the same day, approximately 2,800 of Samsung Biologics' 4,000 union members (70%) launched the company's first five-day strike in its history. The dispute centers on base salary and performance bonus increases.
