Cruise ship hantavirus cluster grows to 8 cases, 3 deaths; 17 Americans transferred to Nebraska

The cruise ship MV Hondius reported eight confirmed hantavirus (Andes variant) cases and three deaths with a 38% fatality rate as of May 8, with six lab confirmations. The vessel docked in Tenerife early May 10, disembarking 94 passengers from 19 countries on day one.
