April U.S. Layoff Announcements Reached 83,400; Up 38% Month-over-Month

According to Challenger data, April saw 83,387 announced layoffs—up 38% from March and down 21% year-over-year. Year-to-date cumulative of 300,000 is 50% lower than the comparable 2025 period.
